Background:

Nicole Johnson is an Associate Attorney at McConaughy & Sarkissian whose practice focuses on construction law and civil litigation. She represents clients in disputes involving construction defects and related contract disputes. Nicole is admitted to practice law in Georgia and Colorado, having passed the Georgia Bar Exam in 2023 and the Uniform Bar Examination in Colorado in 2025.

Nicole earned her Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in 2023 and began her legal career in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to moving to Colorado and joining McConaughy & Sarkissian, Nicole’s practice focused on insurance coverage and defense matters, with a particular focus on bad faith claims and coverage disputes. Before attending law school, Nicole worked in Austin, Texas, as Arbitration Specialist for an insurer group. In this role, Nicole decided arbitration disputes as a neutral party, and defended insureds against arbitration demands filed by adverse carriers. Prior to working as an Arbitration Specialist, Nicole worked as a Claims Adjuster for a multi-line insurance company where she investigated, evaluated, negotiated, and settled both bodily injury and property damage claims. This experience has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of insurance practices and dispute resolution from multiple perspectives.

While at Emory University School of Law, Nicole served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Emory Law Journal. Her student Comment was selected for publication in the 72nd Volume of Emory Law Journal. She also completed internships with the Honorable Thomas A. Cox of the Superior Court of Fulton County, the Georgia Senate, and the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights while pursuing her legal degree.

As part of her commitment to pro bono and volunteer work, Nicole has drafted medical reviews and appellate briefs for veterans seeking disability benefits and discharge upgrades through Emory’s Volunteer Clinic for Veterans. Nicole has also completed pro bono work assisting refugees through the Rainbow Railroad.

Outside of the office, Nicole enjoys exploring all that Colorado has to offer, including hiking and snowboarding.
